HR, I actually hope the Paternos keep the press releases coming. The more they say the more pathetic it makes the cult look. Each time those loons speak, it keeps the memory of their lying, enabling, fraudulent patriarch alive. The rest of the world sees the Paternos and the father's cult followers for what they are. The PSU cultsts and jock sniffers can keep believing. I admire their blind branwashed loyalty. Their thinking is surely not the problem, right? It's not a football or paterno problem, according to the ayatollah lubrano. Wonder what those whiteouts will look lke in 3-4 yrs when they're playing tosu wth a roster full of fcs/d2 level players and walk-ons from the blue band? They won't be whiteouts they'll be whiitewashes. Better get Bucknell on the schedule! Don't forget: this whole thing isn't even close to being over yet. What if one of the stooges sings? What if the 2nd mle was paying players? What if grades were fixed? If psu lived a lie in allowing Jer to roam free, then covering that up what else did they cover up? As I keep saying, football is the least of psu's worries.

coach I'm not the only one. Read the papers, watch the news, the evidence of the most vile egregious scandal ever is staring you in the face and you refuse to believe it...Everyone is piling on...its justified, particularly after having success with honor, the grand experiment, the psu way not leaving college football to the switzers and sherrills, we are, etc jammed down our throats for decades. Believe what you want, but psu football was a lie...and the indictment isn't over yet...The continued defense of the indefensble by cultists is makng the whole thing worse...but by all means exercise your 1st amendment rights and carry on!

Titan,
Just because everyone is jumping on the "trash Penn State" bandwagon doesn't mean it's justified. It just means it's easy. I'm just sick of everyone on tv, radio, and message board pretending to flex their muscles and sound high and mighty. There are two issues that this tragidy has brought to light. One, boys were raped and it was covered up. That was delt with, Sandusky is in jail, a bunch of people got fired and are probably going to jail, and now a bunch of people who had nothing to do with the crimes committed and getting punished by the ncaa. Like it on not(I think the NCAA went a little overboard) that's the way it is. The second issue is major college football programs have way to much power at the schools and in their communities. I keep hearing the term "the cult of Penn State". If this happened at any other major program(Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Alabama, Florida, LSU.....) those fan bases would be acting the same way Penn State fans are.

It's make me sad to see the joy our society takes in totally destroying a person or company the first chance we get.

Well what is done is done.

Jerry Sandusky is in jail. Joe Paterno committed some serious wrongful acts. The Big 4 in PSU administration PLUS Corbett and Gricar covered up sexual abuse for 14 years. The former leader of the FBI director hired by the school found the allegations to be true from his point of view. The NCAA stepped in and has put on a steep penalties against the school, and the school agreed to take these penalties without a fight. And that is where we are. The Freeh report might not be totally 100% accurate, but I've learned from things like this...."Where there's smoke, there's fire." Something SERIOUSLY wrong was going on if Sandusky is just now going to jail. And as reasonably people, the men that are having their names being tarnished had some doing in the matter.

It does not matter what the Paterno family thinks. It does not matter if the PSU people are blaming the media. It does not matter what you or me think. The thing is over. PSU still has dark days ahead of poor football, civil suits, and trials of their top administrators.

As a Football fan, the best thing to do is root for your team. If Pitt had this predicament I would be a fan of the team. I would understand the reality and perception of things from an outside perspective.

My honest opinion is the PSU and Paterno apologists are exactly what is causing the negative feelings from media and the rest of the county. People do find it weird that this is how the school and fan base operate, and it is truly troubling if you take an outside look. And my honest opinion, I'd say the majority of Penn State people and supporters understand. I think the media blows up the radicals that think Paterno is God still. I truly do.

And my thoughts get taken in negative light because I am a Pitt fan. I truly do feel bad for the Penn State players. The new coaching staff, and essentially everyone that had no parts in this. Its hard to feel entirely bad because of some of the unfavorable comments I hear from PSU fans and the actions the former leaders committed. I'm allowed to disagree, anyone is. From a Football perspective, I don't take joy in the abuse scandal. I'm not sympathetic that this is happening though. A punishment needed to come down, and it did. I won't feel sorry if PSU loses 10 games a year because I want them to do that on a yearly basis. That won't change. Some say Pitt fans have an obsession with PSU, maybe some do. But I wish them bad luck being that they are our chief recruiting rival. Plain and simple. This won't change even if PSU is down. As a Pitt fan I understand they aren't the same caliber of program as Penn State, but its not like they aren't capable of being there. If PSU is down, Pitt has the chance to go up. And being a fan of Pitt, why would I not want that to happen? I don't like how this necessarily went down, but you have to take things as they come.

I do have many PSU friends and family, and they are wonderful people. You guys on here are great debaters and good guys too. Rivalry banter is a healthy thing, and I know many Nitters still taking shots at Pitt when they are completely down. I heard a bunch today. I don't begrudge them, why not? The steps of healing start with rooting for your team and treating the situation normally. I know WPIAL says PSU's least concerns are with Football. But I know Kirk always says, He roots for the Football team. And if thats your stance, carry it out. As a fan there is nothing more you can do, but be a fan.

I know I say some unpopular things that PSU fans don't like, but most people know me to be a reasonable guy for the most part. And while I'm mindful of the seriousness of the situation, and know the severity. I root for PSU's in-state rival, I can't help what I am. I know Penn State won't be down forever. I know they can still win championships and big bowl games in my lifetime. I'm being realistic. I wish O'Brien all the luck with the cards he's been dealt. I just want Pitt to be the better team and get the better recruits, not changing my feelings for the circumstances. So I wouldn't say I take joy in this, I say I'm rooting for my own team.
