9th grade participation

I know BC has had trouble fielding a freshman team but I was surprised Penn Cambria doesnt have one. I went to the Johnstown 9th grade game yesterday and was surprised they were playing mifflin county. Is participation a problem at local schools? Is this something new or am I out of the loop?
I know mifflin co. is a aaaa school but they had over 40 freshman on the team. Johnstown played them tough the whole way but was outmanned and fell 24-6.

I wen to the McCort-Carroll frosh game,

Bishop McCort has 19 on the roset Bishop Carroll had 16 kids there yesterday.

19 is about where McCort has been for freshmen lately. That usually translates to about 12-12 kids that continue on into varsity.

McCort also has 17 8th graders, and 20 7th graders for what its worth.

The Rangers dropped the 8th grade program because of low numbers, but the 8th graders remaining join in with the 9th grade to field the Jr. High team. There is a separate 7th grade team.

Wow, have times changed. Manfred, i drove by westmonts field yesterday and fh 9th graders were up 41-6to in 4th.
