1. We will be live from Northern Bedford Friday night. We have internet for certain and press box locations all set up and ready to go, ready to bring you a live look at the ICC Game of the year. If you can not make it to the game, or any game. Check this one out. Live Video Feed with myself (Jim Hammett) and Dan DeFrances on the broadcast.

2. I will be doing a preview later this week solely for the Bellwood-NBC Game, so check back here on Thursday for even more coverage on this massive showdown.

Re: Biggest game in Patton since forever

In 25 years? Maybe. In forever? Nope.

1. November 1979
Heights 15, Northern Cambria 6
Still the largest crowd ever (estimated at 5,000) to see a game at good ol' Patton Stadium and they saw Northern's dream of a perfect season go up in smoke. Heights finishes 7-2-1, Northern 9-1.

2. September 1960
Heights 33, Johnstown Catholic 0
I was but a wee babe and could be wrong about the final, but it was a shutout. It was all Jack Tinnick (a senior who went on to Michigan State) in the battle of all-state tailbacks with Pete Duranko (who was a junior then and went onto Notre Dame and the NFL, of course). This was the first year of the Heights jointure. They finished 9-0. I believe McCort, er, Johnstown Catholic, went on a 30-some game winning streak after this loss.

3. Whatever year that was that Johnstown Vo-Tech won the D-6 championship (1986?) with Rozich and Delic that title game was played in Patton. I think the AA game (United) was also played there that year.

Really good information!! Not easy to find that kind of stuff on the internet. I'll have to ask my old man if he knows anything about the Johnstown Catholic-Heights game.

Regardless, HUGE game for the Highlanders and the Crushers for that matter.

Syd, I'm a little older so here is what I have...

You are correct about 1960 ?... Joe Shumock was the crusher head coach-best overall win % in crusher history.

It was the 4th game of the season when the heights laid one on them.

No other team scored more than 14 that year on the crushers.

I have the crushers winning 36 straight with a tie sandwiched In there in 1962, quite a run!

1960 8-1. (lost wk 4 to CH 33-0)
1961 10-0
1962 9-0-1 Played Conemaugh to a 0-0 tie
1963. 10-0

Coach Shumock leaves and the crushers win their first two in 1964 but finish 5-5 under Albert Fletcher.

As they say Syd you get wiser with age, should be a good one in Patton this week!

Your correct Sydney, United beat Richland in 1986 for the 6AA title.
