Three Rivers Classic

Post by abpk2903 »

Anyone watching?

It has 4 of the better college programs in the area in Penn State, Ohio State, Robert Morris, and top 10 ranked Miami (OH). Starts today at 4:30 and the championship and consolations are tomorrow. Robert Morris beat PSU earlier this year on a 3rd period goal 3-2. They kick it off. If Penn State plays Ohio State, it will be the first of their B1G opponents since becoming D-1.

They said the attendance today should be around 10,000 so it seems to have a pretty high interest around the city.

Not sure if anyone on the board cares about college hockey but I'll give a quick update on Penn State:

-They upset Ohio State 5-4 during the consolation of the 3RC in a huge game for the program. This will be a game that will be remembered for a long time by those concerned about the growth of the program.

-They lost tonight 4-3 at UConn. Penn State put up nearly double the shots as UConn but the Huskies senior goaltender played a great game.

-This puts there overall record against NCAA opponents this year at I believe 8-10-1. They played a non-NCAA home series against Arizona State's #1 nationally ranked club team and split with them earlier in the year, as well.

I am very impressed with the first season of this program. Some big games are coming up in the second half, including a trip to East Lansing.
