WestPac fans....rank your conference

Post by Coach »

This conference has some solid teams in it. Looking at things for D5, it looks like 6 teams (with TM and NB) will win 6-9 games with Lots of potential for 5 teams to win 7+.

So..

Is Berlin the best?

Portage second?

Mey, Win, and NS- how many will each win? Who would beat who?

Berlin 9-0 definitely going to see one of the best Backyard Brawls of late with Meyersdale. Should be exciting
Meyersdale 9-1 Portage will really show how good this team really is. Could be another long trip up 219 for the stangs.
Portage 6-3 I can see the Meyersdale game going either way. Possible loss to Blairsville or HC doubtful of both
Windber 6-4 with losses to Berlin, Portage, and LV
NS 5-4 They have one of the easier schedules, but they have Berlin, Shade, and Meyersdale in a row.
Shade 5-4 not looking too bad
CT 2-8 they have the hardest schedule. The big three Berlin, Meyersdale and Portage...plus CH, HC, and Windber..tough year
BV 2-8 Ferndale and Valley?
CV 1-8 not looking good ahead for the Jays
Ferndale 0-9 class act kids
If only closed minds came with closed mouths

1. Berlin proj. 9-0 (3-0) - Showing complete dominance, Focthman has been outstanding, cant see them losing.
2. Portage proj. 7-2 (2-1) - Have looked inconsistent so far, although they are playing 4-5 sophomores. May lose to HC, or Blairsville.
3. Meyersdale proj. 7-3 (3-0) - Have come out of the gate strong, could see losses to Portage, Berlin, and Tussey.
4. North Star proj. 6-3 (2-1) - I don't believe they are better than Windber but their schedule is easier. Could lose to Berlin and Meyersdale.
5. Windber proj. 6-4 (2-1) - Offense has been strong but defense hasn't shown much. May lose to Ligonier, Portage, and Berlin.
6. Shade proj. 4-5 (1-2) - If Nash Walker is out, this could change, they completely fell apart without him. Will probably lose to North Star, Berlin, and Meyersdale.
7. Conemaugh Valley proj. 3-6 (1-2) - Probably about even with Township but a much easier schedule. Still may lose to Berlin, Shade, Meyersdale, and Windber.
8. Conemaugh Township proj. 2-8 (0-3) - Tough schedule, Could lose to Chartiers-Houston, Windber, HC, Portage, and North star.
9. Blacklick Valley proj. 2-7 (0-2) - Have not looked good at all, only wins could come from Ferndale and Saltsburg.
10. Ferndale proj. 0-9 (0-3) - Have not looked good at all, can't see them winning a game.

Thanks guys... I was wondering what projections you might have and they look like what I thought. Mey, NS, and Win are toughest to project.

I can see the A playoff seedings looking something like this-
1. Berlin
2. NB or TM
3. NB or TM
4. Meyersdale
5. North Star
6. Windber

That is a very good bracket and obviously there will be changes but I'd think anyone could win from this group.

NB and TM have AA wins already so they pass teams with the same records. NB has 2 more AA teams left and an AAA.
An 8-1 Berlin would still have a better rating for seeding over an 8-2 team

After two more weeks and the halfway point of the season, not much has changed.
1. Berlin proj. 9-0 (5-0) - Did look beatable against North Star but i just can't see them losing to Meyersdale or Windber.
2. Portage proj. 8-1 (3-1) - They played really strong against Meyersdale, and are finally hitting their stride.
3. Meyersdale proj. 6-3 (3-1) - I think they can beat North Star, but Berlin and Tussey should beat them.
4. Windber proj. 6-4 (3-2) - Almost pulled off the upset against Ligoneir, but i still see them losing to Portage and Berlin.
5. North Star proj. 6-3 (3-2) - Looked really good against Berlin until they turned it over which could lead to them losing to Meyersdale.
6. Shade proj. 4-5 (3-2) - Rockwood not having a season is going to keep the Panthers from being .500 unless they can upset North Star, Berlin, or Meyersdale.
7. Conemaugh Valley proj. 3-6 (1-4) - Will probably only beat Blacklick and maybe Purchase Line in the second half of the year.
8. Conemaugh Township proj. 2-8 (1-4) - The Indians will hope Ferndale plays their game in Week 9 so they can win another game this year.
9. Blacklick Valley proj. 1-8 (0-4) - Again, the Vikings won't win unless Ferndale plays Week 7. Maybe they could beat Saltsburg, but I don't think so.
10. Ferndale proj. 0-8 (0-4) - They won't win a single game they play this year, but I dont know if they will play their remaining 4.

Meyersdale's victory last night made a huge impact on the WestPac Standings. These are the three scenarios that could play out over the next two weeks.
-If Meyersdale beats Shade next week and Berlin beats Windber week 10, the WestPac will have tri-champs for the 2nd consecutive year with Portage, Meyersdale, and Berlin which is the most likely of the scenarios.
- If Meyersdale loses to Shade and Berlin beats Windber, Berlin will be single WestPac champs.
- If Berlin loses to Windber, Portage will be single WestPac champs.

I don't know why the WestPac doesn't use overall record as a tiebreaker, as Portage could lose out to Blairsville or Homer Center but if Berlin loses to Windber, Portage will still be champs even though they would be 6-3, Berlin would be 7-2, and Meyersdale would be 9-1.

Portage has already clinched at least a share of the WestPac Championship. The Mustangs have no conference games left so they cannot end the year with anymore than 1 conference loss.

Yes, but Berlin has the head to head on Portage which is the lone tiebreaker. So, if Meyersdale loses to Shade next week, the Red Raiders will have 2 conference losses. Then Berlin will have the tie-breaker over Portage and will be lone WestPac Champs.
