The two old timers, John Hayes and Don Bailey, are still very good at what they do. Bellwood has a very good staff, I actually think they have more coaches than players.

I think Berlin is very "well coached" and I've always been impressed with how they handle themselves. Doug Paul does a nice job.

Greg Page ran a very nice offense last season. It was run oriented, but diverse in the sets they ran.

Brandon Bailey is a QB guru, and his offenses' are always tough. He'll figure a way to have these kids competitive this year.

Hard to not put bill packer and the Penns manor staff in this discussion. Since bill took over on 06 only 1 losing season, His first year and winning records with 1 home playoff game since 2007. Winning multiple heritage titles and a district title along the way with a program that previously didn't have a winning record since the early 90s

Well, since someone showed some "luv" for the Don, I'll toss out a nomination for John Franco.
It ain't over until it's over.

I wouldn't feel comfortable saying who the best coach is because this area has some really good ones and theres more than one... ones that come to mind and that are currently still active are Franco, Forest Hills and Richland at AA and Bellwood, Penns Manor, and Homer City at A. Some of these programs have been at the top and some have made some big turn arounds to get to the top. Im sure theres a few others Ive left out!

John Franco, Altoona (formerly Tyrone)
Brandon Bailey, Richland
Mike Smith, formerly Juniata Valley
John Hayes, Bellwood-Antis

All 4 of these men are proven winners and have been around awhile

Max Shoemaker had some great teams at Bedford and has the Ridge program probably at its best in history.

Kevin Steele pulled TM from the worst program in the state (maybe ever) to a district championship appearance and several "winning" campaigns and is now helping Bedford rebound to one of the better programs in the LHAC.

Just wanted to mention a few that have done a great job at different schools.

I would divide coaches into two groups. Old-school coaches 15 years of experience or more and the new age coaches with less than 15 yes experience

Old-school:
Don Bailey-FH, John Franco Tyrone – Altoona doesn't count lol, John Hayes – Bellwood, Billy Packer – Penns Manor- yrs?

New age:
Brandon Bailey – Richland, Doug Paul – Berlin, Justin Wheeler – Bishop Guilfoyle, Greg Page – Homer Center and Bob Landis – Somerset
