McCutchen reportedly to the DL

Post by Crimson's Ghost »

Where do the Bucs go from here? I'd imagine Marte returns by tomorrow to replace him, and will likely take over the everyday center field spot until Cutch returns.

So against a Right handed pitcher, I guess this is the lineup?

1. Harrison 3B
2. Polanco RF
3. Walker 2B
4. Davis 1B
5. Martin C
6. Marte CF
7. Snider LF
8. Mercer SS

Apparently Pedro is not the everyday starting third basemen for the time being.

And I guess a lefty the whole thing would look real different, maybe....

1. Harrison LF
2. Mercer SS
3. Marte CF
4. Sanchez 1B
5. Martin C
6. Walker 2B
7. Polanco RF
8. Nix 3B

Pure speculation, neither lineup scream playoff team. They just need to hold the fort down for 2 weeks without Cutch.

If walker Marte and Cole get back and healthy, they can tread water , but gaining on anyone will be tough. Marte back tonight, hopefully walker too, Cole by the weekend.

It will be difficult for this team to stay in the race without Cutch?

Looking at Crimson's proposed lineups, the lineup vs. righties can compete.
But that lineup vs. lefties is bad news.

Is a Marte return tonight a definite? I read he was struggling in his rehab. I would not be shocked to see Tabata get the recall. That would put Harrison in CF full time with a Snider/Tabata platoon in LF and a Nix/Pedro platoon at 3B.

I would agree with you voncap. I would bring back Tabata and see if he could capture any past magic from his previous successes.

forgot Tabata is not on the 40 man roster so he may not be a candidate for recall.

I'm thinking maybe Lambo makes his way up.

It is NOT an oblique strain, it is a broken rib. He may try and wait it out a few days and avoid the DL.
