Infield debate Pirates 1990/2015
I meant to delete a post and deleted the thread. I'm sorry.
Re: Infield debate Pirates 1990/2015
Ugh!
Bonds > McCutchen
Bonds-Van Slyke-Bonilla
Marte-McCutchen-Polanco
Starting outfield? Bonds-McCutchen-Van Slyke. Bonilla moves to 3B and Alvarez and King platoon at 1B

How much better was Van Slyke and Bonilla over Marte? I'm too young to have an opinion.

I hope you didn't delete my post...
Anyway, here is what you had with Bonds, Bonilla, and Van Slyke. The power numbers really tilt the scale IMHO
1990
Bonds .301, 33, 114
Bonilla .280, 32, 120
Van Slyke .284, 17, 77
1991
Bonds .292, 25, 116
Bonilla .302, 18, 100
Van Slyke .265, 17, 83
1992
Bonds .311, 34, 103
Bonilla .249, 19, 70
Van Slyke .324, 14, 89
Plus, each one could steal bases and were very good defensively. You be the judge...

Of course not, I had a double post and I meant to delete my own.
Re: Infield debate Pirates 1990/2015
The original post compared the 1990 infield to the 2015 infield.
Bream-Lind-King-Bell
Alvarez-Walker-Harrison-Mercer
I went with Alvarez-Walker-King-Bell. Backups Belliard and Harrison.
2015 unit > 1990 unit

Re: Infield debate Pirates 1990/2015
For those fretting about losing Russell Martin should remember the 1990 team did OK with Mike LaValliere and Don Slaught behind the plate. And for those going back to 1979 it was the immortal Ed Ott and Steve Nicosia.
