Cathedral Prep vs. Imhotep Charter Open Game Thread
Imhotep Charter is ranked 13th IN THE COUNTRY by USA Today. Are they really that good? We shall see. Imhotep comes in as the Philadelphia Public League champions. They rolled over Saucon Valley 72-27 in the Eastern Final. By my count, they have at least 8 seniors that have Division One scholarships, including the top tight end prospect in the country Naseir Upshur (Florida ST bound). Plus a number of underclassmen that will also earn scholarships. They are loaded, and many can and will claim they are the best team in the state, in any class.
Cathedral Prep is always a powerhouse out of District 10, but they are gigantic underdogs on paper. They usually churn out college prospects too, but it seems they don't have many on the radar this year. No matter, this is a strong program with quality players. I'm not sure how they will fare, but I'd imagine they will have good coaching and a solid game plan going up against such a daunting task. Prep just beat a very talented McDevitt team last week. They'll also be one of the best travelers of the weekend, they have great fans and the best student section in Hershey. It could help?

Yes, enrollment is open to the public across PA, NJ, DE, and MD
If only closed minds came with closed mouths

Public as in, if you are walking along a public street, the public can see it sitting there, in public. Not like Hogwarts.

That's the league they play in during the regular season. It's certainly not a Catholic school. It doesn't cost money to go there. (I'm not even sure they "go" there, it might be a cyber school).

Exactly that's why I wish Pa would of put all Catholic and Private schools in their own league have a big school little school classification Maryland has their own catholic private league Bishop Guilfoyle and PCC are in the same boat how can some public schools compete when your only pulling from a specific area.

I'm not sure that's the case. I think it's open to the entire city of Philadelphia, all 3 million people. It's listed on their school district website. Here is their mission statement.12HankQB wrote:Yes, enrollment is open to the public across PA, NJ, DE, and MD

I thought the purpose of charter schools was to improve academic performance compared to underperforming public schools. But what do you do when charter schools have terrible performance like this one?
