College Hoops 2/1-2/7
Monday - North Carolina at Louisville 7:00 ESPN
1 vs. 2 in the ACC Standings. UNC is arguably the nation's best team, as they have been on a serious roll lately. They head into Louisville to face a team licking it's wounds after getting embarrassed by Virginia. Should be a good one to kick off February.
Tuesday - West Virginia at Iowa State 9:00 ESPN2
Huge game, as both teams are coming off double-digit road losses in the SEC/Big 12 challenge. Two skilled team, I'm interested to see ISU's free flowing offense against "Press" Virginia.
Wednesday - Notre Dame at Miami 7:00 ESPN2
Pivotal ACC showdown for both teams. I really like Miami's squad, and think they are a terrific team that will be dangerous in March. Notre Dame started playing well about 2 weeks ago after a sluggish start to the year.
Thursday - Colorado at Oregon 9:00 FS1
Colorado is a surprise this season, and they'll go on the road with some confidence against a talented Oregon team.
Friday - Harvard at Princeton 7:00 ESPNU
Just remember, the Ivy League is the only conference that awards it's regular season champion with an automatic big to the tournament, so these are big games.
Saturday - Villanova at Providence 2:30 FS1
These two teams just played a very memorable game two weeks ago with Providence stealing one on the road in OT. Nova will look to return the favor. Mich at Mich State 2, Purdue at Maryland 4, UNC at Notre Dame 7, Baylor at WVU 8 are also big time Saturday games on TV.
Sunday - Utah at Oregon 4:00 ESPN2
Not a bad prelim before the Super Bowl starts.
Pitt 17-4 (6-3) Virginia 12:00 Saturday
Pitt had another up and down week. The Panthers really let Clemson walk all over them, and it esulted in a double digit road loss. In fairness to Clemson, they are actually really good at home. They are 5-0 in the league at home, and have defeated 4 ranked teams on their home floor. It wasn't an expected or assumed win for Pitt at all, but the disappointment lied in how they played. Pitt totally changed their fortunes on Sunday with a convincing 20 point win at home against Virginia Tech. They made a lineup change and inserted 6th man, Sheldon Jeter, into the starting lineup. He gave them a career high 23 points and a boost. Now Pitt gets to rest up and prepare for a showdown with top 10 Virginia coming to the Pete.
Penn State 11-11 (2-7) @ Iowa Wednesday 7:00 ESPNU // Indiana Saturday 8:00 B1G
Penn State had a rough week. The Lions could not hang with a pretty average Ohio State team on Monday, and that's a game I thought they could win. They then went to Madison Square Garden to play Michigan, giving up a conference home game for a chance to play in NYC. Michigan jumped out to a comfortable lead. Penn State made a run in the second half, but it was a little too late for any serious comeback threats. Pat Chambers' squad has a very tough week with a road game at top ten Iowa on Wednesday, while hosting Big Ten-leading Indiana on Saturday. Gonna be tough to steal one this week.
Duquesne 15-7 (5-4) Davidson Saturday 12:30 NBC Sports Network
Duquesne is playing some really good basketball right now. They won both games last week, and have won 5 of their last 6 games. The schedule picks up here rather quickly, but the Dukes get a nationally televised home game on Saturday against a tough Davidson team. A win there would be one of their biggest in years.
Saint Francis 10-11 (6-4) Bryant 7:00 Thursday // Central Connecticut State Saturday 4:00
SFU split their two games last week, including a rather easy win over RMU at home. They get two home games against two of the lower rated NEC teams this week with a good chance to get over .500 for the year.

Typo in pitt part. They won by 20 at home vs Virginia Tech

A loss at home to virginia isnt terrible. This 3 game stretch (virginia, miami and unc) is a good litmus test for pitt. Picking up 1 win would be good, 2 great but losing all 3 isnt the end of the world.

Virginia is just unbelievable on defense, they really just blitzed them in the first 5 minutes of the second half and that was that. Pitt hasn't lost two games in a row yet, so they'll look to keep that trend going Tuesday. Miami is athletic and talented, but they don't play smoldering defense, thus giving Pitt somewhat of a chance.
