Pirates next 10 Games

Post by Coach »

Cubs, Brewers, Cards.

This stretch potentially determines the course the Pirates go for the next several years. A 2-8 stretch might lead to a huge fire sale. An 8-2 stretch could lead to making a run.

Following these 10 games the Bucs see the Rockies and then some teams below the .500 mark. SF, SD, Det, Cin. The deadline will have passed before they get all those games in though.

Can't see the Buccos going more than 5-5 in those ten games.

The formula for their success the past few years was a solid defense that limited mistakes, and a great bullpen.  Both those aspects of the current Bucs' team are terrible.  Until they correct both areas, they are not going to win the division.

Can I lock that 5-5 in? I think less than that.

They'll go 9-1, then go 1-9 when they play the teams with bad records.

2/3 from the Cards
2/3 from the Rays
Swept by the Giants
3/4 from the Phills
2/3 from the Cubs

Should have never been swept by San Francisco, but otherwise they've been playing pretty well. Coach referenced the "next 10 games"  and 3 games in, they've won 2. Not a bad start.

7 games at home against the Cards and Brew Crew. Time to find out if this team is going to be the team it shows glimpses of. Have to try to take 5 out of 7 minimum.

At this point, I truly wish they would go at least 6-1 and be at 500 by July 20. That would hopefully send a signal that they would be in it until the end. However, if they can't make a run I hope at least they do damage to the Cubs, like they this past weekend. I would prefer to see the Brewers hang on to keep both the Cubs and the Cards out of the playoffs. JMO.
