Playing up a class, or 2
While I get the argument that some small schools are moving up a class or 2 to avoid the private schools, what is the Forest Hills girls excuse?? There are no privates in D6 AAA. Are they just trying to avoid competition and stack district titles? I can't help think that the FH boys going through Richland and LV to win a title would be much more meaningful.

If I had to guess, it was to avoid the privates in A and AA, avoid the tough LHAC teams in AAA, and to avoid Forest Hills in AAAA. It makes no sense and waters down any titles they might win.Crimson's Ghost wrote:Why did Portage pick 5A?

I think it’s pretty weak to move up just to avoid other public schools or to guarantee a trip to the D6 championship every year. I could see a single A moving to avoid a private, but a dominate AAA moving up just to avoid the bulk of other good teams is terrible. Where would have Portage fit in to this year’s A rankings?

Portage is AA by the numbers, so A wasn’t an option. And coincidentally enough, the top 4 teams in AA in District 6 were of course public schools this year. There are no D6 private schools in AAA and AAAA either.
I don’t fault a team for trying to play up, but if the private school thing is the excuse why play up 3 classes instead of just one?
If private schools weren’t their worry, they just wanted to try 5A then so be it.

I’m sure McCort or BG being in AA is the easy scapregoat, but Bellwood and Juniata Valley would be the teams you are avoiding if you were trying to get out of AA since they are both legitimate state championship contenders.

Gave cc and pc there losses how would that be running The reason is up to school and coach but don’t see fh girls running from anyone the was 4 a last two years maybe wanted to stay there
Re: Playing up a class, or 2
If you want a definitive answer, ask the Coaches or their AD. Why did Portage football try to get into D5 instead of D6? Why did Juniata get into D6 instead of staying D3? Why did W. Shamokin get into D6 instead of staying in the WPIAL?
It ain't over until it's over.

I just saw the scores from last night, I have to say that Kennedy Catholic playing A for so many years was the biggest joke in the state. They just crushed State High 97-53 in AAAAAA. Shanksville or Bishop Carroll could've made the state finals if they had moved prior. We complain about the privates locally, but it's a small gripe compared to what KC was doing.
