At penns manor there were multiple players who had to sit out for various sports because of grades.youngbuck wrote:Because consolidation could impact teams and conferences
Is there any punishment for low scores
Nope
Can anyone name a player who missed time due to grade issues?
At any school?

Re: TEST SCORES
Yeah I know a couple kids from PL missed games because their grades this year and in years past. I'm pretty sure that all schools do that.
Re: TEST SCORES
2 years ago, FH had 2 starters ride the pine,....for a Playoff Game,... not in uniform, because their grades were bad midway thru a marking period. Football does Not trump academics at FH, as some have implied.konjo78 wrote:At penns manor there were multiple players who had to sit out for various sports because of grades.youngbuck wrote:Because consolidation could impact teams and conferences

Re: TEST SCORES
By PIAA rule, one must be passing 4 Carnegie units to be eligible to play. A school cannot lighten the rule, but they can tighten. Many schools have the policy of failing any two classes makes you ineligible. Pending course load, a student could be failing two and still be passing 4 Carnegie units.

Re: TEST SCORES
I don't know off hand if PM had any this year for football. I do know two friends of my sons sat out a few Basketball games for Grades. One also sat out a game for detention. At PM any disciplinary action that causes detention and you are down for that game.konjo78 wrote:At penns manor there were multiple players who had to sit out for various sports because of grades.youngbuck wrote:Because consolidation could impact teams and conferences

You're only young once, but you can be immature forever!!!
Re: TEST SCORES
Until a few years ago, FH had block scheduling, having only FOUR classes per day for a semester, then FOUR different classes per day for the second semester. The problem with this was, if you were failing ONE class, it was the equivalent of TWO. This affected the grades of football players over the years, causing some to sit out a game or two near the end of the season (9 weeks).
Re: TEST SCORES
I'm sure some of you will think I'm trying to revive a dying horse with this thread, but I couldn't help but notice the article in the daily rag today about Johnstown High 'importing' 15 Chinese students. I guess that's one way to improve overall test scores, as everyone knows they are the brightest students in the world. Where will the new Chinese restaurant be located?
It ain't over until it's over.

Re: TEST SCORES
Yeah, Johnstown started pushing for that big time after seeing the school up the street doing it for a few years. It's actually a big money maker for schools to host exchange students, believe it or not.
Re: TEST SCORES
I heard the Chinese exchange students at BM pay approx. $36,000 to attend the school. Minus the expenses, this nets about $23,000 per student per year for the school.
Re: TEST SCORES
Crimson is normally on the mark. Not so on this one, at least as far as public schools are concerned. You cannot charge tuition for these students to come.
