I don't think Lombardi gets enough credit with what he has done at IUP. 2nd final 4 for him while being there and overall has been a pretty solid program year in and out. Maybe they can sneak out with a title but maybe he'll end up being hired for a D1 job like he deserves?

IUP has the attendance and athletic teams to join and compete in a small D1 conference like the NEC but Driscoll said they will not be going D1 due to financial reasons.

Yea I was wondering what type of costs were involved with going Division 1, basically does anyone know how it works and willing to enlighten me?

The talk to IUP to move to Division I has been a rumor for a long time, not sure if it's as simple as a "matter of time" because it's been a matter of time for about 10+ years. Pitt main's undergrad enrollment is 18,000 IUP's is 12,00, so it's not bigger than Pitt. Although enrollment isn't what it's always about, just pointing out that it isn't a bigger school.



So even within the FCS realm of college football, there's still two types of schools. Places like James Madison that play in 24,000 seat stadiums and will schedule a non-conference game against FBS schools, or places like Robert Morris who play in High School sized stadiums.

IUP's Miller Field is listed at 6,500 capacity.
