The final four
The final four
If you had IUP making it in your office Division II poll, take a bow now.

Re: The final four
I don't think Lombardi gets enough credit with what he has done at IUP. 2nd final 4 for him while being there and overall has been a pretty solid program year in and out. Maybe they can sneak out with a title but maybe he'll end up being hired for a D1 job like he deserves?

IUP is bigger than Pitt student wise nowadays. Only a matter of time before they go D1
Re: The final four
You have to be D1 in more sports than just basketball. Ask St. Francis folks.
It ain't over until it's over.

True, but IUP also has 10x as many students as St. Francis, don't they have a decent football team though too? I could be mistaken

D1 in name only.Manfred wrote:You have to be D1 in more sports than just basketball. Ask St. Francis folks.

IUP has the attendance and athletic teams to join and compete in a small D1 conference like the NEC but Driscoll said they will not be going D1 due to financial reasons.

Re: The final four
The talk to IUP to move to Division I has been a rumor for a long time, not sure if it's as simple as a "matter of time" because it's been a matter of time for about 10+ years. Pitt main's undergrad enrollment is 18,000 IUP's is 12,00, so it's not bigger than Pitt. Although enrollment isn't what it's always about, just pointing out that it isn't a bigger school.
So even within the FCS realm of college football, there's still two types of schools. Places like James Madison that play in 24,000 seat stadiums and will schedule a non-conference game against FBS schools, or places like Robert Morris who play in High School sized stadiums.
IUP's Miller Field is listed at 6,500 capacity.
